Restoration of Casa Fàbregas for housing for the elderly

Manresa

Project description

It is a listed housing building consisting of a basement, ground floor and four upper floors. It originates from the 17th century and was formed by the aggregation of four different structural units that were unified around 1853. It is a typical example of neoclassical architecture as seen in the composition of the main façade, with balconies decreasing in height, made with stone slabs and wrought iron railings. The rear façade, from the 18th century, has two series of arches. The lower semicircular and very high ones help to overcome the uneven ground and provide light to the ground floor and basement, while the upper ones form a beautiful gallery of lowered arches, with hanging capitals.

The object of the project is the structural consolidation of the building and its interior redistribution. The lower floors house a space for offices, while on the three upper floors there are a total of fourteen homes for the elderly and community services located on the fourth floor. The main access to the building is via the façade facing the Plaza Mayor. The building achieves an A energy classification.
