Restoration of Sobrerroca Gate

Manresa

Project description

The Sobrerroca Tower dates from the 14th century and was part of the walled enclosure of Manresa, the historic city walls. It is a prismatic tower 10m high with an almost square plant of 5’30 × 4’90m.

The building is structurally consolidated, restoring the exterior and interior facades and creating an access from the “Joc de la Pilota” street to the existing building.

In order to make the tower visitable, a metal staircase is placed inside to go up to the upper viewpoint and enjoy the closest views. Two intermediate platforms are installed where informative panels referring to the medieval city will be shown.
